Girls’ Players of the Year High Honorable Mention honorees:
Melina Avery, Harriton, junior goaltender (Syracuse)
Avery was the rock in the cage for the Rams, who won the league, district and state championships. She was particularly strong in the playoffs and the state finals.
Megan Kelly, Moorestown, senior defender (Penn)
Kelly was the defensive standout for the Quakers, who went 26-0 and won the New Jersey Tournament of Champions for the second straight year. She earned US Lacrosse All-American.
Marie McCool, Moorestown, junior midfielder (North Carolina)
McCool was the two-way midfield standout for the undefeated Quakers. She collected 86 goals, 25 assists and 42 groundballs and earned US Lacrosse All-American.
Alex Poplawski, Springfield-Delco, senior midfielder (Stanford)
Poplawski led the Cougars to a share of the Central League championship. She collected 89 goals and 44 assists as well as 132 draw controls and was named US Lacrosse and Under Armour All-American. She also was named Delaware County Daily Times Player of the Year and First Place honoree in Pansini & Mezrow Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.
