PA Independent School tourney roundup: Agnes Irwin tops third-seeded Germantown Friends

Laura Pansini collected four goals, two assists and five groundballs and Hannah Keating added four goals, one assist and two draw controls as visiting Agnes Irwin defeated third-seeded Germantown Friends, 15-11, Monday in the quarterfinals of the PA Independent Schools Athletic Association championships.

The sixth-seeded Owls (13-8) advance to play today at second-seeded Friends’ Central, a 15-8 winner over Springside Chestnut Hill Academy.

Kristin Burnetta added three goals and two groundballs while Elizabeth Spitz had four draw controls and three groundballs and Sarah Platt contributed three groundballs and three caused turnovers. Caroline Roncalli made 12 saves.

Friends’ Central School 15, Springside Chestnut Hill 8

Ashley Tedesco scored four goals, Sophie Macfarlane had three goals and three assists, Emily Tedesco had three goals and an assist and Emma Dahle contributed two goals and four assists to lead the Phoenix.

Lisa Bernstein, Abby Crowley, Kate Forrest, Maria Pizzini, Miranda Mastrocola and Taylor Allen were standouts on defense and Aubrey Faggen made 12 saves.

Mikaela Watson scored three goals for SCHA.

Notre Dame 12, Germantown Academy 11

Katie Schneider scored the game-winner with 1 minute to play, Nora McCallion collected five goals and three draw controls, Delaney Tuite had three goals and Megan McGurk grabbed five groundballs and two caused turnovers as the Irish advanced to set up a meeting today at Inter-Ac League rival and top-seeded Episcopal Academy.

Jen Stack had four goals while Allie Cannon added two goals and three assists got GA.

Episcopal Academy 16, Penn Charter 9

Schuyler Aitken collected five goals and an assist and Lindsey Reder posted 10 saves for EA.

Avery Shoemaker, Molly Pighini and Julia Fleming each scored twice for Penn Charter.
