The NJ South U13 All Star Lacrosse Team reached the championship game of the US Lacrosse Southeast Regional tournament last weekend in Raleigh, N.C.
The team (see roster below) consisted of the top U-13 players throughout Southern/Central New Jersey, representing six counties and 16 towns.
The tourney featured All Star and Select Teams from New Jersey, Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia. After compiling a 4-0 record and grabbing a No. 1 seed following pool play, NJ South advanced to the Championship game after defeating Virginia Beach Select, 10-5, in a early Sunday morning Semi Final matchup.
However, NJ South fell short in its Championship bid with a 12-9 loss to the NC Cannons, despite a very strong and courageous effort. The Cannons went up big early, 5-1, in the first quarter, but NJ South fought back with a few opportunities to tie the game late second and early third quarter.
The 2013 NJ South team was coached by two former All-PhillyLacrosse.com South Jersey High School Team Players (2012) – Tommy O’Neill (St Augustine Prep HS/Penn State University Midfielder) and Sean Gray (Seneca HS/Wagner College Defensemen).
