NCAA men’s playoffs: Philly grads help Dickinson, Lynchburg advance in Division III

Matt Cherry (Radnor) had two goals and three assists while Tyler White (Penn Charter) had two goals and four groundballs as the No.2-ranked Dickinson men’s lacrosse team routed visiting Adrian College, 20-7, Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship on Saturday.

Will Scott (Emmaus) added a goal for the Red Devils, who improved to 18-0.

The Red Devils advance to the quarterfinals to host Salisbury University on Wednesday. Opening face-off is currently scheduled for 4:00 pm.

Carter Moore was phenomenal for Dickinson, winning a remarkable 19-of-19, face-off attempts while controlling a game-high 13 ground balls in the process. He also had a goal and an assist. Brian Gleason also had three goals and an assist.

Lynchburg 12, Roanoke 9

Philly grads helped 13th-ranked Lynchburg came back in the second half for a road victory over No. 7 Roanoke in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Saturday night.

The Hornets (16-4) will have a rematch with Stevenson University (19-2) Wednesday in the NCAA Quarterfinals.

Campbell Armstrong (Great Valley) had two goals and an assist for Lynchburg while Max Voumard (St. Augustine Prep) had two goals. Jon Gill (Unionville) led the defense with three groundballs and two caused turnovers.
