Monday’s boys’ HS highlights: Moorestown, West Deptford, Shawnee stay undefeated

Michael Handlan scored five goals and Matt Olbrich had a goal and two assists while winning 12 of 17 face-offs as host Moorestown defeated visiting Bridgewater-Raritan, 9-5, today in a New Jersey boys’ lacrosse game.

Moorestown, ranked No. 3 in the state by the Newark Star Ledger and No. 11 by Phillylacrosse.com, is 5-0 while the two-time defending state champion Panthers are 2-3.

Dan Willis made eight saves in goal for Moorestown and Drew Hillman added a goal and an assist.

West Deptford 9, Gloucester Catholic 8, 2 OT

Conor Smith scored three goals and had the game-winner while Zach Kaestner added three goals and two assists and Nick D’Ottavi posted 16 saves for the visiting Eagles, who improved to 6-0.

Shawnee 12, Eastern 3

Zach McHale had three goals and Kyle Borbi added two goals and two assists for the Renegades (7-0) in their victory over the Vikings.

Council Rock North 10, Council Rock South 9, OT

Brian Fitzpatrick (three goals, two assists) scored the game-winner with a minute remaining in OT to lift the Indians over their arch-rival in the Suburban One National.

Connor D’Amelia also had three goals and two assists as the Indians rallied from a 7-4 deficit. The Golden Hawks used two goals to take a 9-8 lead late in the game, but D’Amelia (Fitzpatrick assist) knotted the score, 9-9, with 1:36 remaining in regulation, setting the stage for overtime.
