Only months after concluding a 7-6 season and bidding farewell to their first class of four-year student-athletes, the Chestnut Hill College men’s lacrosse programs announces their recruiting class for 2014. Introducing the next pride of Griffin men’s lacrosse:
Justin Albarran (Freehold, N.J./ Freehold Township)
Albarran is a tremendous athlete and two-way midfielder. As a junior, in 2012, Albarran was named All-Division A-North Second Team and an All-Freehold Regional Honorable Mention only to follow those accomplishments with a 30-point (21 goals and nine assists) senior season and an A-North Public Division Championship. Albarran played club lacrosse with United.
Clay Arnold (Jamesville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius)
Clay Arnold is a lefty attack who finished his senior campaign with 75 points (49goals and 26 assists), which was good enough for 15th in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Section III. Arnold was named All-Central New York Counties League (CNYCL) First Team while helping the Fayetteville-Manlius Hornets finish as the Class A Runner-Up.
Kroy Arnold (Jamesville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius)
Kroy Arnold is a right handed midfielder who can make contributions on offense, defense, and in the face-off circle. He was named All-CNYCL First Team midfielder after helping his Fayetteville-Manlius Hornets to a 17-1 finish in 2013.
Sean Calhoun (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) – Attack
Calhoun comes to Chestnut Hill College as a member of the Norristown Area High School Hall of Champions. He finished his high school career as Norristown’s all-time leader in goals (126), assists (66), and points (192). He was a three-time (2011, 2012, and 2013) All-Suburban American Conference (SAC) Third Team selection and three-time Times-Herald Athlete of the Week. He also played varsity soccer.
Nick Capone (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia) – Midfield
Capone is a do-it-all midfielder that specializes in winning draws. In 2013, he won 74% (164-of-219) of his face-offs and secured 116 ground balls while also contributing 25 goals and 14 assists (39 points). Following his senior season, Capone was selected to participate in the Herb Fitch Senior Showcase and named to Monroe County’s Division III First Team by the Greater Rochester Chapter of US Lacrosse. Capone played his club lacrosse with Blaze Lacrosse and Fellowship of Christian Athletes Lacrosse.
Alec Dambach (Howell, N.J./Howell)
Scoring 100 points (41 goals and 59 assists) in his senior season at Howell High School, Dambach finished his high school career as the Rebels all-time points leader (306, 140 goals and 166 assists). He is a two-time All-State Honorable Mention, a three-time All-Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association (SCLCA) selection and a 2013 US Lacrosse High School All-American. Dambach played club lacrosse with United.
Daniel DePasquale – (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) – Defense
DePasquale comes to Chestnut Hill College after being named the 2013 Klank Division Co-Player of the Year and an All-Essex County First Team selection. A two-year captain, he set the Livingston High School record for career ground balls (432) and was an All-Conference First Team selection in both his junior (2012) and senior (2013) seasons. DePasquale played club lacrosse for Building Blocks and was named a Brine National High School All-American in 2012. He was also an All-Conference linebacker for the Lancer football team. He volunteers his free time to the Livingston Junior Lancers Lacrosse program.
Andrew Hildebrand – (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) – Defense
Hildebrand is a well-rounded individual and defensemen. His Hatters were the 2013 Suburban Continental Conference Champions with a 15-4 overall record. He was a senior mentor, head of fundraising for the Hatboro-Horsham Student Advisory Board, and a member of the Hatters distinguished Honor-Roll. Hildebrand played club lacrosse with Bandits Lacrosse.
John McCullough (Floral Park, N.Y./St. Mary’s) – Defense
Another multitalented recruit, McCullough comes to Chestnut Hill College after helping St. Mary’s High School finish as the Nassau Suffolk Catholic High School Athletic Association (NSCHSAA) Class A Metropolitan Runner-Up. Although he is first and foremost a defenseman, McCullough totaled 49 saves over five appearances in goal. He received Academic All-League Honors and also swam for the Gaels.
Tommy McDermott (Holmes, Pa./Ridley) – Goalkeeper
In 2013, McDermott was named to the All-Central League and All-Delaware County Second Teams after recording a 65% (163 saves/251 shots faced) save percentage as Ridley High School’s primary goalkeeper. He is a three-year varsity athlete and as a member of the National Honor Society, he recently graduated in the top 10% of his class. McDermott played his club lacrosse with the HEADstrong, whose national team he recently helped to a Euro Championship in the Lowlands Lacrosse Tournament of Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Mark Pascetta (Milmont Park, Pa./Ridley) – Defense
This past fall, Pascetta was an All-Central League and All-Delaware County football player at Ridley High School where he also helped anchor the back line on a deep Green Raider lacrosse squad. In 2013, Pascetta co-captained a Green Raiders lacrosse team to a 15-5 finish. Pascetta played his club lacrosse with HEADstrong.
Joe Pozniak (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) – Midfield
Pozniak comes to Chestnut Hill College as a four-year letter winner and the all-time leader in ground balls (485) at Governor Livingston High School. A 2013 Co-Captain and All-Kimber Conference First Team selection, Pozniak won 81% (227-of-336) of his face-offs en route to total 15 points on six goals with nine assists. His 270 ground balls led all of New Jersey. Pozniak received Governor Livingston High School’s Team Leadership award and he plays his club lacrosse with DeCicco Lacrosse.
Craig Steckel (Secane, Pa./Ridley) – Midfield
Steckel is the third player coming to Chestnut Hill College from Ridley High School this year. He is a defensive midfielder who also took face-offs for the Green Raiders.
Tim Vilardi (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Regional) – Defense
Vilardi is yet another recruit who comes to Chestnut Hill College as his school’s career leader in ground balls (287). In 2013, as a defenseman at Red Bank Regional, Vilardi tallied five goals and six assists (11 points) to earn an All-Central Division Second Team selection. He played his club ball with United Lacrosse.
