JJ Hoeffler, a former All-Middle Atlantic Conference lacrosse standout for Widener, has been named men’s lacrosse coach at Millsaps College.
Hoeffler had a great four-year run (2008-11) in helping lead the Pride to three Middle Atlantic Conference titles and as many trips to the NCAA Tournament. He was picked first team all-league as a senior in 2011, closing that season with 22 goals, six assists and 17 ground balls in leading Widener back to the NCAA Tournament.
The Cranford, NJ native ended his career with 68 goals, 32 assists and 100 points.
Hoeffler takes the job after serving one season as an assistant coach at Misericordia. The squad in 2013 went 10-7, played in the Freedom Conference final and produced seven all-league players. In 2012, he was the head coach at Chiefs High School in Orland Park, IL and paced the team to an 18-3 record and a trip to the state semifinals.
Millsaps, located in Jackson, MS, last season finished 5-9.
