From Press Release

The goals kept coming in today’s contest at Dominican University of California, as Chestnut Hill College built a 13-4 halftime lead over host Dominican before completing their California sweep with a 19-13 victory.

Senior attackman Craig Owen (Haverford School) led the Griffins with six goals and an assist, but he received plenty of support with senior attack Shane Morlock and senior midfielder Michael Duddy providing three goals apiece.

Morlock and Duddy scored the contest’s first two goals to give Chestnut Hill College (2-1) a 2-0 advantage with 5:50 remaining in the first quarter. Dominican University of California (1-1) answered just twenty second later (5:30), 2-1, but the Griffins book ended the quarter gap with back-to-back goals for a 6-1 edge with 13:53 remaining in the first half.

The Penguins were able to cut the deficit to 6-3 by 10:36, but a 7-1 Griffin run closed the half on a 13-4 margin. A Penguin third quarter narrowed the gap to 15-9, but a tightly played fourth quarter left the final at 19-13, Griffins.

Owen took 11 shots to record his career-high six goals; he also recovered a ground ball. Morlock added three assists and a ground ball to his hat trick while Duddy recorded and assist in addition to his.

Junior attack Michael Melnychenko provided three assists while freshman attack Tanner Fisher and senior midfielder Mark Lively offered two goals apiece. Senior goalkeeper Dakota Maure earned the win (2-1) by totaling 15 saves.
