Princeton High School (NJ) rising senior midfield-defender Dana Smith has made a commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Lafayette College.

Dana Smith log:

Dana Smith
Dana Smith

High School: Princeton High School

Graduation Year: 2014

Position: Midfield/Defense

College Choice: Lafayette College

Club Affiliation: Ultimate New Jersey

Major lacrosse honors: NJ South team 1 National School Girls Tournament, All-Mercer County first team, All-Area first team

Academic honors, service projects: Academic All-American, Trenton Bridge Lacrosse volunteer coach

What will you major in/study? International Relations

Why did you choose Lafayette? “Lafayette has the academic programs I was looking for. It’s the perfect location for me because it’s just about an hour from my home. Coach (Alison) Fisher is talented and passionate about what she does and last season Lafayette showed their potential and their constantly improving lacrosse program. I immediately knew I would fit in academically and athletically at Lafayette.”

What are your thoughts on this past HS lacrosse season/team’s outlook for next season? “I’m very excited for my school’s upcoming season because we ended last season in the State Sectional final, which is farther than the program had gone in the State tournament for many years. We will have some new faces on the coaching staff and the field as well as many strong returning players and a second-year head coach. We’re already working hard with fundraisers and off season training so I think we have the ability to go even farther in the post-season this year.”

Additional Comments: “I would like to thank Michele DeJuliis, the Ultimate Club director for encouraging me to stick with lacrosse when I was younger and then guiding me through the recruiting process years later and believing in me all the way. I would also like to thank my NJ South and Ultimate Coach David Schlesinger for teaching me so much about the sport in just one season and helping me improve every aspect of my game.”

Other schools considered: University of Rochester, Middlebury, William and Mary, The Naval Academy
