Last chance for boys, girls to register for YSC Player Development Program

April 13, 2013 by Chris Goldberg

Phillylacrosse.com, Posted 4/13/13

There is limited time to register for the YSC Lacrosse player development program (YSC LAX PDP), a training-based curriculum for boys and girls taking place at YSC’s state-of-the-art 90,000 square foot facility located at 224 County Line Rd, Wayne.YSC

YSC LAX PDP features an innovative lacrosse program for boys and girls in grades 3 through 8 (with goalie programs offered for boys and girls in grades 3 through 12). The program starts Monday for boys and goalies and Thursday for girls and offers small-group sessions taking place one night per week for eight consecutive weeks.

The Spring YSC LAX PDP has been designed to elevate the level of youth lacrosse development technically, tactically, mentally, and physically during the lacrosse season. At the core of YSC’s holistic teaching method is the understanding that young players can acquire both physical (“technical”) lacrosse skills and mental (behavioral “attitude”) skills.

Drafting off the proven success of YSC’s soccer PDP Program, the YSC Lacrosse PDP Program is unlike any youth development program in the United States. YSC’s unique, science-based curriculum combines a world-class lacrosse coaching staff with experts in physiology and sport psychology to create a holistic curriculum designed to challenge and inspire the next generation of lacrosse players.

The elite lacrosse coaching staff is lead by John Nostrant & Tom Marechek (boys program), Jenny Duckenfield and Mary Cryan (girls program) and Brian Dougherty (goalie program). The sports sciences are lead by Dr. Cristina Fink (sports psychology) and Dave Peck (athletic development training).

For more information and to sign up for the YSC LAX PDP program, please click here.

The YSC Lacrosse program is not a club and will not form teams to compete in leagues or tournaments. YSC LAX PDP is “club neutral” supplemental training designed to compliment and support the youth development work of the schools, community programs and clubs in the region. The YSC LAX PDP program schedules are tailored (as best possible) to coexist with other lacrosse clubs, tournaments, camps, community programs, and scholastic organizations.

The boys lacrosse curriculum features the ultimate combination of top-level field lacrosse and box lacrosse training/instruction as each session will include 30 minutes of field lacrosse training/instruction, 30 minutes of box lacrosse training/instruction plus 45 minutes of sport science (sport psychology and athletic development training).

The girls lacrosse curriculum includes 60 minutes of top-level on-field training/instruction plus 45 minutes of sport science (sport psychology and athletic development training).

The lacrosse goalie curriculum includes cutting edge goaltending techniques for both genders. Each session will include 30 minutes of stick skills and agility drills, 30 minutes of game scenarios and live shots and 30 minutes of film study plus 15 minutes of sport psychology.
