Youth lacrosse teams from Radnor, Rose Tree, Wissahickon, and South Jersey converged on The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corp Community Center in North Philadelphia today at the inaugural EPLCA/LEAPS Kroc Invitational.
All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Eastern PA Lacrosse Coaches Association (EPLCA) and LEAPS (Lacrosse Education Attitude Perseverance Success). The center is home to many of the LEAPS programs and activities.
Each 5th/6th grade team played three competitive round robin games as part of this first tournament at the center, and by virtue of the comments offered by players, parents, coaches, and lacrosse supporters, the event was a rousing success.
“We are pleased to offer this chance to bring tournament lacrosse to our campus and look forward to this being just the start of a great relationship between our center and the Philadelphia lacrosse community,” said the center’s Director of Operations and EPLCA President Jef Hewlings. “There was some awesome lacrosse played here today; we will no doubt be hearing and reading about these guys as they one day take their talents to their respective high schools.
“On behalf of both the center and the tournament’s beneficiaries, thanks to all who attended and supported today’s event.”
