Boys’ lacrosse: St. Joe’s Prep edges Arch. Wood, 10-9; Ryan’s Taylor gets 7 more goals

Chase Young scored the game-winner and Scott Scheuerle scored three goals while Pat Walsh had two goals and an assist as visiting St. Joseph’s Prep edged Archbishop Wood, 10-9, in a Catholic League boys’ lacrosse game today.

The Hawks (7-5, 5-0 league) remain a half-game behind first-place La Salle, which defeated Conwell-Egan, 15-1. Wood is 5-5 and 3-2.

Chris Rahill scored three goals for Wood while John Berthcsi and Chandler Grasela each scored twice.

Archbishop Ryan 12, Archbishop Carroll 7

Sophomore Shane Taylor continued his torrid scoring spree by tallying seven goals and adding an assists and eight groundballs as the Red Raiders claimed the Catholic League win.

Taylor now has an incredible 27 goals in his last three games after scoring 10 goals the two previous games vs. Northeast and Interboro.

Austin Slawter added a goal and six assists and Mike Kirby had a goal and three assists for the Raiders. Tyler Bollard won 12 of 18 face-offs and Mark Ostaszewski posted 14 saves
