Andrew DeSana log:

Andrew DeSana

High school: Methacton

Graduation year: 2014

Position: Defense

College choice: Seton Hill University

Club affiliation: Twist Black

Major lacrosse honors: 2013- MHS Team Captain/ PAC 10 Defensive Player of the Year/PAC 10 1st Team Defense/PAC 10 All Academic Team/1st Team All Area Defense, Pansini & Mezrow Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll; 2012- 1st Team All Area Defense/All PAC 10 Defense/PAC 10 All Academic/Selected to Team Philly

What will you major in/study:
Biology/Seton Hill Honors School

Why did you choose school: “Seton Hill gives me an outstanding opportunity to excel both in the classroom and on the lacrosse field. 2012 NCAA Division 2 Academic Rankings list SHU #1 in the East Region. The SHU lacrosse team reached the 2013 NCAA quarter finals, losing to Limestone 16-13,finishing the season ranked No. 8. I am also really looking forward to have the opportunity to play lacrosse with my brother Anthony, who is currently a junior at SHU. Coach Novotny and his staff (Coach Harrington and Coach Ilse) have done a great job of keeping SHU ranked among the top teams in Division 2.”

Outlook for your high school team: “I think Methacton has an amazing opportunity to win the PAC 10 this season, due to loss of impressive seniors on opposing teams and the return and improvement of players in a lot of the key positions like LSM and goalie. Our entire starting attack is returning and we have a lot of excellent athletes at the midfield position. Along with my leadership at defense, I think the team will mesh very well together, and I am excited for the season.”

Other comments: “I would like to thank my parents for pushing me academically and athletically, Coach Nat Ryan and Coach Tony Verna for teaching me and supporting me, my brother Anthony for constantly helping me to improve my game, and last but not least Mr. Charles Denecke for introducing me to the sport.”

Other schools considered: Dartmouth, Hartford, UMass-Lowell, RPI
