Haverford School rising junior face-off specialist Colin Bosak has made a commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the United States Naval Academy.

Colin Bosak log:

Colin Bosak
Colin Bosak

High school: The Haverford School

Graduation year: 2015

Position: FOGO

College choice: The United Staes Naval Academy

Club affiliation: HEADstrong 2015

Major lacrosse honors: Inter-ac Invitational Champions, Under Armour top 80, Under Armour Uncommitted Games, Under Armour Shootout champions

What will you major in/study: Molecular Engineering or Biomedical Engineering

Why did you choose school: “Choosing to attend a service academy had not always been an idea of mine. Until visiting and meeting Coach (Rick) Sowell, Navy was just another school to me. Coach Sowell emphasized what it means to be a midshipmen and a lacrosse player at the Naval Academy. During my visit to Navy I learned all about the academic options that are available, the pride that goes along with Navy’s athletics, and being able to serve my country had solidified my decision to attend the Naval Academy.”

Outlook for your high school team: “This year we have a lot of returning starters and a lot of people coming back from injuries. I feel as if Fords lacrosse will be on top of the national rankings for the next couple of years to come. With the combination of all of the young guys and a few key older players, in addition to the elite coaching staff, Haverford School will be the team to beat.”

Other comments: “There are many people that I must thank who have contributed to my success on the athletic field and in the classroom. The Haverford School coaching staff which is comprised of Head coach John Nostrant, Mark Petrone, Travis Loving, and Coach Paul O’Grady, has been nothing short of amazing. John Nostrant does more for his players then any coach anywhere else. He makes his players part of his family. Coach Loving and Coach O’Grady have assisted me in improving upon my defense of game. Finally Mark Petrone, my mentor, who has been there for me since the first day I have stepped on campus and taught me that a faceoff guy must work 12 months a year. Mark Petrone has taught me how to grind hard even at 7 AM in the morning when it is snowing outside. He has guided me at the faceoff-X along with Haverford School alumni Liam O’Conner, Will Gural, Bill Annesley, Joe McCallion, and Will Scudder.

“I would like to thank Coach Peter Rohr, and Coach Brian Neary along with HEADstrong lacrosse, for their relentless efforts in the recruiting process and assisting me on improving my game even in the summer.

“I would like to thank Jake Hervada, Brian Casey, and Drew Supinski for practicing every day with me at the faceoff-X, and Roby Burch for calling every face-off.

“I would like to thank Coach Matt Flynn and the Ridley Youth Lacrosse Organization for teaching me to love and play the game.

“Thank you to Coach Rosko, Mr. Wardle, and Nikki for keeping my body in shape and healthy between lifting and injuries.

“Thank you to my Parents, Grandparents, brothers and additional friends and family for supporting me throughout high school. Special thanks to my newest brother, John.

“Finally, I would like to thank my teammates for spending my high school career on and off the field with and making it a great experience.”
