Lansdale Catholic senior defenseman-LSM Mat Barnett has made a commitment to play Division III lacrosse at Penn State University-Abington.

What will you major in/study? American Studies
Why did you choose PSU, Abington? “Ever since I was a little kid I’ve dreamed about going to Penn State. Penn State has been the only place I really looked at to go to college. If I didn’t get into Penn State I knew I would go to the local community college then transfer to Penn State to graduate. The only difference was when I was little I dreamed of playing football for Joe Paterno, instead I’m playing lacrosse.”
Outlook for your High School team? “I believe we are going to have a good season this year. We have a lot of talent, we just have to play smart and conservatively. Our Varsity team this year is made up of over 20 seniors and we only lost 3 seniors last year. Hopefully we play strong throughout the entire season and make it to the playoffs.”
Additional Comments: “I would like to thank Coach (Keith) Brandon for keeping in touch with me and taking an interest in me playing lacrosse at Penn State Abington. Him keeping in touch with me, kept me motivated to work harder this off season to get stronger, faster, and better. I would also like to thank my former principal Tim Quinn for convincing me to play lacrosse sophomore year after being cut from the baseball team freshman year.”
