Washington Township (NJ) senior defense Alyssa “Lou” Kalitz has signed a National Letter of Intent to play Division I lacrosse at Drexel University.

Alyssa “Lou” Kalitz log:

Club Affiliation: South Jersey Devils

Major lacrosse honors: 4 Varsity letters, 2009 & 2011 South Jersey Group IV Champions, 2010 Gloucester County Cup Champions, 2010 Unsung Hero, 2011 Olympic Conference Champions, 2011 1st Team All-Conference, 2011 Honorable Mention All South Jersey, 2011 All-American National Lacrosse Team Member (Underclassman All-American), 2011 1st Team Southern New Jersey Women’s Division National Team Member, 2012 Captain.

What will you major in/study? Physical Therapy

Why did you choose Drexel? “Drexel has always been my dream school. It has so much to offer. They have an excellent science program and an amazing Co-op Program. The Co-op program opens you to so many opportunities by giving you experience in your field of study. As for the lacrosse part, it was exactly what I was looking for. It’s a great Division I program that has a lot of pride, competition, and they strive to be the best. To top it all off, it’s in the city of Philadelphia!”

What is your HS team’s outlook for the season? “Many say we are ‘rebuilding’ because we graduated six senior starters, but to us we are just reloading. This year we will have a whole new offensive and defensive line, but the new starters stepping in this year are just as good as what we had last year. We will still be another senior-leaded team with a lot of experience. We are only taking steps forward this year. We are looking forward to another great year with a championship in sight!”

Additional comments: “I want to thank my high school coach, Sandy Stockl, for making me the player I am today. She always pushes me to do my best, not only on the field, but in the classroom too. Her love for lacrosse grew on me. She taught me how to see the moves that are happening and also two moves in advance. She also played a huge role in my college search.”

“I also want to thank my club coach, Melissa Venturi, for also making me the player I am today. She always believed in me and was always willing to stay after practice and help me with what I was struggling on. She has played a huge part in making me into a Division I player.

“And finally a big thanks to my parents for their encouragement, always believing in me, and showing their support at my games.”
