Archbishop Wood senior goalie Emily Hutson has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Albright College.
Emily Hutson log:
High School: Archbishop Wood
Graduation Year: 2012
Position: Goalie
College Choice: Albright College
Club Affiliation: Ultimate Goal Lacrosse
Major lacrosse honors: 2011 Academic All-American; 3 year varsity starter, captain senior year
Academic Honors: National Honor Society
What will you major in/study? Accounting
Why did you choose Albright? “Albright is the right choice for me for so many reasons. The academics were exactly what I was looking for in a school. The school is close to home so my family will be able to see me play. The campus is small and everyone has been extremely friendly and helpful. Coach (Jen) Willis and Coach (Kasey) Lederle are very involved with the team, on and off the field. They really care and are so excited to be starting up a new program. I feel that being apart of something new and putting Albright Lacrosse on the map is going to be very exciting and challenging.”
What is your HS team’s outlook for the season? “We have a lot of new girls on varsity this year. We are a young team and the girls are very passionate about the game. They want to succeed in every aspect of the game so they can help the team win. This team has a ton of heart and I can’t wait to play with them.”
Additional Comments: “I want to thank my parents and my sister for always believing in me and supporting me through everything. Also, I would like to thank Coach Duca, Coach Ahrens and Coach Veronica who convinced me that picking up a goalie stick freshman year was a good idea. They all believed in me and without them I would have never had the chance to play lacrosse. I also need to thank Stephanie Ellis for helping me learn what being a goalie is all about. Finally, I have to thank all my teammates who played so hard in front of me and make playing goalie fun and exciting.”
