From Press Release

Georgetown University head women’s lacrosse coach Ricky Fried has rounded out his staff with the addition of Lauren Morton (Gwynedd Mercy Academy). Morton will work with all aspects of the program including offense, defense, recruiting and game preparation.

“I’m excited to have Lauren join the staff, she is incredibly knowledgeable in the game and brings a new perspective,” said Fried. “She relates well to the players and will be an asset to the program.”

The Glenside native comes to Georgetown from her alma mater, Boston University, where she was an assistant for two seasons. During her tenure, the Terriers won the 2012 America East Regular Season Championship and went 10-2 in conference play including a perfect 6-0 record in 2012. Morton coached three IWLCA All-Region honorees as well as one All-American in Danielle Etrasco.

Prior to BU, Morton coached for two seasons at Lafayette College. She has also been involved with Ultimate Goal Lacrosse in Philadelphia since 2004. The organization works with athletes ages 12-18 focusing on all aspects of development, communication and teamwork.

As a four-year letter winner at BU, Morton helped the Terriers capture four-consecutive America East titles. She served as team captain in both her junior and senior seasons and finished her career as the program’s all-time leader in draw controls. Morton also tallied 160 goals and 19 assists in four seasons.

During her senior season, the former midfielder was named the team’s most valuable player and garnered IWLCA All-America Second Team and IWLCA All-Region First Team honors. Morton also received all-region second team recognition as a junior while landing on the America East All-Rookie Team following her freshman season.

Morton also garnered the Aldo “Buff” Donelli Award, presented to a senior who demonstrated outstanding leadership both on and off the field, and the John B. Simpson Award, given to both a male and female senior who demonstrated enthusiasm and leadership.
