The Philadelphia Wings dropped their third straight game as they fell to the Buffalo Bandits 17-7 at First Niagara Center Saturday night.
After falling to the Swarm 13-9 Friday night, the Wings showed a bit of fatigue in Saturday’s loss to the Bandits as they fell behind 6-2 early and were never able to make it competitive in the second half.
In the loss, the Wings were led by Captain Brodie Merrill who paced the Wings with three goals. The Bandits were led by 43-year-old John Tavares who tallied four goals and four assists in the victory.
With the loss the Wings dropped to 7-7 and out of first place in the National Lacrosse League’s (NLL) East Division as the Toronto Rock defeated the Edmonton Rush to improve to 7-6 on the season.
Despite the loss Wings forward Dan Dawson eclipsed the NLL record for most assists in a season with his 75th assist of the season early in the second quarter. Dawson broke the record of 74 that he shared with Josh Sanderson.
The Wings will continue the quest to clinch their first home playoff game as they travel to face the Minnesota Swarm April 21 at Xcel Energy Center.
