Grant Ament (Haverford School) had four goals and two assists and Zach Drake (La Salle) added three goals to help Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) rout Looney’s L.C. (Md.), 17-3, today to advance to the semifinals of the US Lacrosse U15 National Championships at Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
FCA, the top seed in the playoffs following pool play on Friday, will meet Florida in the semis Sunday at 8 a.m.
FCA, which earlier toppled 3d Select, 13-7, in the second round behind four goals by Calvert Hall’s Timmy Kelly (North Carolina commit), features 11 players from the Philly region.
Dukes HHH, the 12th seed, opened its playoff schedule this morning by downing No. 21 Norcal Platinum, 8-3. Mike Sowers (Upper Dublin) had three goals and Jason Yoquinto (Bishop Shanahan) stood out in goal with seven saves. Dukes HHH then fell to fifth-seeded NESLL (Ma.), 6-2, in the second round/ Sowers had both Dukes goals in the loss.
Dukes HHH later dropped a 6-5 overtime decision to the Long Island Jesters and will play Colorado at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in its final consolation.
