Wilson High School – Head Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse Coach

Wilson High School is in need of a head varsity boys’ lacrosse coach with prior playing and coaching experience. The Wilson School District has an enrollment of 1,900 students in grades 9-12 and competes in the Berks County Interscholastic Athletic League and the PIAA District 3. The senior high boys’ lacrosse team is fully funded by the Wilson School District. The program is regionally competitive but has not yet been competitive at the PIAA state level. Primary responsibilities are team and player development, effective communication with players and parents, teaching, enforcing, advocating and modeling character traits and sportsmanship, and community involvement. Wissahickon HS is searching for a Boys’ Head Lacrosse Coach for the 2012-13 school year. Coaches only position; no teaching position linked to the coaching job. Ideally, the candidate played both HS and college lacrosse and has previous coaching experience at the HS level. Arcadia Assistant Coach
Arcadia University, a four-year private institution located in Glenside, Pennsylvania, is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Coach, Men’s Lacrosse. Arcadia is an NCAA Division III institution and a member of the Middle Atlantic Conferences. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of managing the program, including, but not limited to, practice planning, game preparation/scouting, recruiting, and all other duties as assigned by the head coach. This is a part-time position that carries with it a competitive stipend.
Duties and Responsibilities: • Adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures of the Department of Athletics & Recreation and Arcadia University as well as the rules and regulations of the Middle Atlantic Conferences, the NCAA and other authorities that may legitimately influence the intercollegiate athletics program. • Assist the head coach in managing all aspects of the program, including administrative in-office support. • Aid in the recruitment of student-athletes. Ensure compliance with NCAA guidelines for contacting and entertaining prospects. • Provide support in overseeing the conditioning and training of team members in conjunction with the strength and conditioning coaches and sports medicine staff. • Help conduct regular practice sessions within both traditional and non-traditional seasons as permitted by NCAA rules and regulations. Develop and implement strategies for motivating student-athletes to perform at maximum levels as both individuals and a team. • Assist the head coach in all matters of game preparation and scouting of potential opponents. • Ensure the safety of student-athletes and coaching staff through careful monitoring of the condition of athletic equipment and facilities utilized by the designated sport. Submit requests for repair, maintenance and improvement of facilities as needed. • Develop and articulate to student-athletes the departmental and team rules regarding appearance, practice, class attendance, punctuality, dress code and general standards of behavior. Enforce policies and procedures outlined in the student-athlete handbook, team rules and apply appropriate disciplinary action. • Provide leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes, including counseling team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters, when appropriate. • Review and clearly understand all sections of the department employee handbook. • Perform all other duties as assigned by the head coach and/or Director of Athletics.
