The Archbishop Carroll girls’ lacrosse team returned home Tuesday in impressive fashion.
After dropping two heartbreaking games at the AmLax Challenge to national powers Vero Beach and Milton, the Patriots erupted for a 21-8 victory over visiting Archbishop Wood, their top competitor in the Catholic League.
Natalie Schmitt collected eight goals and two assists and Rachel Flynn had five goals and three assists to lead the Patriots (2-3).
Merion Mercy Academy 14, Mt. St. Joseph Acad 13
The host Bears won the first battle between two of the Catholic Academies League powers as Bonnie McShane had four goals and two assists and Julianne D’Orazio contributed two goals and three assists.
Ro Hurley and Olivia Nostrant each scored two and Caili Guilday made 12 saves for Merion Mercy.
Emilee Ehret led the Mount with two goals, five assists and eight draw controls.
Notre Dame 17, Penn Charter 13
Carlianne McCabe had six goals and two assists and Kristen Bandos added five goals and one assist as the Irish won their Inter-Ac League opener.
Avery Shoemaker led the Quakers with three goals.
Haverford High 17, Bishop Sullivan (Va.) 5
Katrina Geiger and Olivia Martin each had four goals and three assists and Amanda Case added four goals as the Fords (5-1) claimed the win at Old Dominion University.
Springfield 16, Norfolk Academy (Va.) 7
Alex Poplawski and Emily McCarry each had three goals as the Cougars (4-1) triumphed in Virginia.
Shawnee 15, Eastern 10
The renegades outscored Eastern, 11-3, in the second half to open with a win. Nicole Troost, Jill Chiachetti and Kerri White each had three goals for Shawnee.
Austyn Cuneo paced the Vikings with three goals.
Harriton 20 Barron Collier (FL) 7
Caleigh Foust (5G, 6DCs, 5 GBs) and Katie Melvin (5G, 2A) paced the Rams (6-0), who knocked off a team that came into play at 11-0.
Friends’ Central 16, Hill School 6
Emma Dahle had seven goals, two assists and three draw controls to pace the Phoenix in the non-league win.
Villa Maria Academy 14, Gwynedd-Mercy Acad 8
Catherine Bendinelli paced VMA with six goals and two assists in the Catholic Academies League win.
St. Basil Academy 16, George School 14
Jess Stefanowicz collected six goals and two assists to spark St. Basil to the non-league win.
Meredith Allen and Jess Minderjahn each scored four goals for George School.
Germantown Academy 23, Baldwin School 21 (OT)
Hanna Bogorowski fired in seven goals and Caroline Haynie added six as the Patriots won a scoring fest in the Inter-Ac victory.
Chessy Nicoletti led the Bears with seven goals and Ali Thaler had six.
Council Rock North 20, Neshaminy 1
Hannah Plappert led a strong attack with three goals and four assists as the Indians rolled in the Suburban One National.
Shipley 14, Lower Merion 10
The Gators improved to 5-0 by winning against their nearby rival as they rallied from an early deficit as junior Sophie Katz had five goals and two assists. Sophomore Chase Stewart had three goals, and freshman Rachel Shapiro and seniors Katie Leyden and Caroline Anapol each added two.
