Tuesday’s boys’ roundup, Late Edition: Downingtown West tops Henderson; U. Darby snaps losing streak

Eric Rankel scored three goals and while Tyler McWilliams two and Dylan Ikkala added two apiece and goalie Alex Cuttic posted 14 saves Tuesday as Downingtown West toppled host Henderson, 8-6, in a Ches-Mont League boys’ lacrosse opener.

The Whippets improved to 5-0 and dealt the Warriors (3-1) their first loss.

Connor Sidebottom and Jake Richard each scored twice for Henderson and Chase Heisman was strong in goal with 18 saves.

Bishop Shanahan 13, West Chester East 2

Joe McErlean had five goals and Jack Oakes and John Mehok each added three goals for the Eagles (3-0) in their Ches-Mont opener.

Downingtown East 17, Octorara 2

Six different players scored two goals and 11 players scored in all as the Cougars opened their Ches-Mont season with the easy win.

Upper Darby 10, Friends’ Central 7

Matthew Rucci had two goals and three assists and Sean Stone stopped 14 shots as the Royals snapped a 22-game losing streak.

Chris Stone and Dante DeSimone also had standout games for Upper Darby (1-4) as both tallied two goals and two assists.
Jonathan Bradley also found the back of the cage twice.

Hatboro-Horsham 12, Souderton 3

Trevor Downing, Pat Downing and Jimmy Murphy each scored three goals for the Hatters in the Suburban One Continental victory.

Ridge Schultz scored twice for the Indians.

CB East 14, Pennridge 4
Parker Self had six goals and an assist and Chris Vetter had three goals and four assists to lead the Patriots to the Suburban One Continental Conference win.

Eric Fernandez led Pennridge with three goals.

CB West 6, North Penn 4

Sam Piccone and Travis Miller each scored twice to lead the Bucks to the Continental Conference win.

Chris Young had a pair of goals for North Penn while Mike Tappen made 13 saves.

Pottsgrove 12, Pope John Paul II 9

Matt Natale had four goals and four assists and Danny Michaels added four goals and two assists while Ryan Bilardo made 14 saves to lead the Falcons to the PAC-10 win.

Matt Bildstein had five goals and two assists and Josh Bildstein made 16 saves for PJP II.
