Staff Report

Over 240 boys’ lacrosse teams from 19 states will compete Saturday and Sunday in the Summer Slam Lacrosse Tournament at three sites in the Philadelphia suburbs.

The tourney – run by Victory Events (Pattison Sports Group and NXTsports) – features boys’ teams from U9 to High School AA, with games being played at Episcopal Academy (high school only) as well as Westtown School and Bayard Rustin. Divisions include U9, U11A, U11B, U13A, U13B, U15AA, U15A, U15B, HSB, HAS and HSAA.

Games start at 8 a.m. on both days and each division plays to a championship. Teams play at least four games.

Vendors include:
*Main Line Health, who will be on-site Saturday, at Episcopal Academy performing cardiac screenings for $75. Parents are encouraged to register their athletes for a quick 20 minute, potentially life-saving screening. The screening consists of a history and physical exam from a licensed physician, trained in recognizing risk factors for sudden cardiac death. All athletes will also receive an EKG.

*Fine Design – custom printed official Summer Slam t-shirts in 10 seconds!

*Rothman Institute – “Ask the Doctor” Booth

*STX equipment sold via Team Lax Plus

*Angelo’s Lacrosse Corner

*Laxzilla

The US Air Force also will be on hand to run a chin-up contest.
