South Jersey wrap: Moorestown tops Mendham for Group 3 championship, 13-8; Ridgewood downs Clearview, 18-7, in Group 4

Haleigh Dalmass scored five goals, and Stephanie Toy had three goals and two assists while Amanda Currell made 13 saves to lift Moorestown to a 13-8 victory over Mendham for the championship of the NJSIAA Group 3 tournament at Hunterdon Central in Flemington.

The Quakers improved to 25-0 and advance into the Tournament of Champions vs. Group 2 champion Chatham on Tuesday at Monmouth University.

Moorestown has claimed five of the last six Group 3 state titles.

Gia Padavano scored twice and Aly Messinger (four goals) added a goal to give Mendham an early 3-0 lead. But Currell made some key saves and Moorestown scored the next seven goals to seize control of the game.

Ridgewood 18, Clearview Regioinal 7

Kelci Smesko had five goals and an assist as Ridgwood claimed the NJSIAA Group 4 state final Thursday at Robbinsville High School.

The win gave the marked the Maroons their third straight Group IV title. They begin defense of their two Tournament of Champions titles Tuesday against Glen Ridge.

Darby Kiernan had three goals for Ridgewood and Kate Smesko, Maggie Carver and Devon Maltz added two each. Kim Tumolo had three goals for Clearview (17-5), making its first group championship appearance.
