Freshman Gianna Bowe scored with 22.5 seconds left in the second overtime period to lift Clearview Regional to a 7-6 victory over defending champion Washington Township and its first South Jersey Group 4 girls’ lacrosse championship last week.
Senior Kim Tumolo added two goals as Clearview (17-4) advanced to face North Jersey champion Ridge or Ridgewood in the Group 4 state final on Thursday.
Clearview Regional won all three meetings with Washington Township (13-6) in overtime this year, also winning, 10-9 and 8-7 (two overtimes).
Washington Township was making its fourth consecutive appearance in the sectional final. The Minutemaids won the crown in 2009 and 2011.
Clearview goalie Lexi Lomanno (nine saves) and Washington Township goalie Meredith Bechler (six saves) had strong games.
Tumolo put Clearview ahead, 6-5, early in the first three-minute overtime. Washington Township senior Brittany Bollendorf (two goals) tied it with 1:26 left in the second overtime.
Clearview then won the draw and Bowe dodged a defender and fired a low shot past Bechler.
