Hallie Barnes scored her fourth goal in overtime off a feed from AnnaElise Morello as visiting Garnet Valley avoided a near-stunning upset by rallying to defeat stubborn Avon Grove, 12-11, Saturday in non-league girls’ lacrosse.
The defending state champion and nationally-ranked Jaguars (9-0, also ranked No. 1 in the PA Media Rankings) trailed by an incredible 8-3 at halftime to the Red Devils, coming off a tough 9-8 Ches-Mont League loss to Unionville Thursday.
Morello (one goal, four assists), Ashley Pyle (four goals) and Ally Heavens (three goals, one led the comeback.
Avon Grove (4-3) got standout efforts from Kasey Callaway (five goals), Abby Wheble (four goals) and Meghan Garvey (two goals, two assists).
Moorestown 14, Washington Township 6
Steph Toy had five goals and two assists and Marie McCool added four goals and an assist as the Quakers remained perfect at 6-0.
Megan Tiernan had three goals for the Minutemaids (3-2).
Rumson-Fair Haven (NJ) 10, Archbishop Carroll 9

The Patriots (4-5) dropped two games at the St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (Va.) Spring Fling. The Pats lost a 7-3 halftime lead vs. Rumson FairHaven despite three goals ewach by Natalie Schmitt and Gabby Hull. Megan Santoleri, Isabelle Schmitt and Rachel Flynn each had one goal. Katie Boyle had 12 saves.
Against Georgetown Visitation the Patriots were behind 6-5 at the half. Katie Boyle had 13 saves and Flynn had four goals while Margaret Filippelli had three. Natalie Schmitt, Megan Santoleri and Hull each scored once.
Boys
Downingtown West 8, Ridley 7, OT
Jim Sharer scored in overtime off a feed from Eric Rankel (two goals, two assists) as the host Whippets improved to 9-0.
Dylan Ikkala led Downingtown West with four goals and Alex Cuttic made 10 saves in goal.
Brian Sinex had two goals and Kyle Bush a goal and an assist for the Green Raiders (8-2).
Garnet Valley 9, Avon Grove 7
Matt Taulane had three goals and an assist and Jules Raucci added two goals and an assist as the host Jaguars improved to 7-1.
Tanner Peck had four goals and an assist and Will Schreiner made 14 saves for the Devils (6-2). Avon Grove coach Eric Jackson won his 100th career victory earlier in the week for the Devils.
