September 29, 2012 by Chris Goldberg

The Reading Rockets make their franchise debut tonight when they host the Jacksonville Bullies in the first game of the Professional Lacrosse League at the Sovereign Center at 7:05 p.m.

Records:
Jacksonville 1 win, 1 OT loss, 3 pts (after home-and-home series with Charlotte Copperheads)
Reading 0-0

Reading notes:
This is the Rockets’ first game in franchise history. Scotty Komer, a veteran of Canadian box lacrosse leagues. will start in goal. The attack should be led by Rob Forster (La Salle, Penn State), Justin Otto, and Travis Bland. Forster scored 66 goals in his college career at Penn State (2006-09). The defense is led by Brett Moyer (Ridley, Hofstra), a former Philadelphia Wing and member of the MLL champion Philadelphia Barrage.

There are many other Philly players on the roster. Reading’s defense and transition group will have plenty of local flavor; Evan Swiker (Archbishop Ryan), Jim Forsythe (Henderson/Widener), Julian Maliszewski (Cabrini College) Drexel University graduates Dana Wilber and Andrew Collins. The transition group includes Kevin Kaminski (Strath Haven, Delaware) and George Castle (Penn Charter). Dan Deckelbaum (Delaware) will be on attack.

Bullies notes:

Kyle Hartzell has seven goals, Shawn Wilkins has four goals and nine assists. Kiel Matisz has five goals and seven assists. The Bullies feature Scott Kahoe (Radnor, Georgetown-Syracuse), who has a goal and an assist.
