Quaker Fall Laxfest will go on today as planned with all 20 teams at Radnor High

More than 80 college coaches are expected today when a record 20 teams will compete at Radnor High in the annual Quaker Fall LaxFest, one of the nation’s top Fall club tournaments for recruiting.

Despite the terrible effects of Hurricane Sandy last week, all four Long Island teams – FLG/LI Select, Long Island Express, Long Island Sting and Long Island Outlaws – and a squad from Northern New Jersey (Leading Edge 2014) will compete.

“We have kids with us from California, Georgia, Illinois Texas and the Tri State (NY, NJ, CT) area,” said Sting coach Ken Miller while on the bus from Long Island. “All made time to attend one of the best recruiting events in the Fall.”

This year’s field will include 10 teams from Philly – Duke’s L.C. Blue and Green, HEADstrong Elite, Phillie Elite (formerly LB3), Mesa Fresh 2014, Mesa Fresh 2015, NXT 2015, Rebel Elite, ManUp and Twist. Also in the field are the New England Storm, the Baltimore Hardshells (Crabs), the CNY RoadHawks (Upstate), MaxLax (MD/VA) and the Virginia Lacrosse Club (VLC).

Each team will play three 60-minute games with PA high school rules. Teams will be allowed one 30 second timeout per half, but the game clock will not stop. There will not be an overtime if a game ends in a tie.

The format is round-robin. Five fields will be utilized – two are turf and three are natural grass.
