PIAA boys’ playoff: Downingtown West coasts past District 3 champ Ephrata, 13-4

Ryan Hibbs pumped in four goals and Eric Rankel added three tallies while winning six of seven face-offs to lead Downingtown West past Ephrata, 13-4, today in a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) boys’ lacrosse playoff opener tonight.

The Whippets (22-1) will face District 12 champion La Salle in the quarterfinals on Saturday at a site and time to be determined. La Salle advanced by routing Great Valley, 16-4.

Ephrata closes at 22-4.

Tyler McWilliams added two goals and three assists and Matt Logan dished four assists for Downingtown West, while Dylan Ikkala had two goals and Alex Cuttic made seven saves.
