Philadelphia Wings forward Dan Dawson and transition player Brodie Merrill have been selected for the 2012 National Lacrosse League All-Pro Team, the NLL announced today.

Brodie Merrill

Dawson earned his seventh All-Pro nod and represents the Wings as a First Team All-Pro forward. In his first season with the Wings, the assistant captain broke the Philadelphia Wings team record of 100 points set by Athan Iannucci, tallying a team-high 103 points.

Dawson finished the season with 78 assists, second most in the league and added 25 goals. His 103 points placed third in the league. The assistant captain’s season was highlighted by back-to-back 10 point games in February and two games in which he registered 9 helpers.

Merrill has been named an All-Pro for the fifth time and represents Philadelphia as the Second Team All-Pro transition player. The team captain policed the middle of the field all season for Philadelphia, recovering 157 loose balls, tops in the league among all non-faceoff players. Additionally, Merrill tied a career high with 17 goals and added 15 assists and forced 16 turnovers in the transition game.

Crowley named All-Rookie

Following a season in which he led all rookies with 36 goals, Philadelphia Wings forward Kevin Crowley has been named to the National Lacrosse League’s All-Rookie Team.

The first overall pick in the 2011 NLL Draft last fall, Crowley tied with Drew Westervelt for the team lead in goals and added 35 assists on the season. In the Wings 14-13 playoff loss to the Knighthawks, Crowley led the Wings with seven points, tallying four goals and three assists.

Crowley’s 71 regular season points ranked second among rookies, trailing only Colorado’s Adam Jones. Crowley was also a three-time winner of the league’s Rookie of the Week, tied for most in the league. The forward’s rookie campaign was highlighted by his five-goal performance against the Washington Stealth in which he also scored the overtime game-winner.
