NXTsports and the Victory Event Series are proud to announce that the Philadelphia Wings and the American Indoor Lacrosse Association (AILA) will help present the second annual Philly Indoor Lacrosse Championships (PILC) February 11-12 at the Feasterville Sportsplex.
The Wings organization, Philadelphia’s hometown professional NLL indoor lacrosse team, will be on site at the Sportsplex throughout the weekend, offering prizes and game tickets, and there will be appearances from Wings star rookie forward Kevin Crowley along with Wings mascot Mad Dog. The Wings, currently in first place in their division, are also providing a free game ticket to every participating athlete.
The AILA, an organization dedicated to teaching the true NLL-style indoor game to help field players achieve their greatest potential, is led by Johnny Mouradian, AILA President and Wings Head Coach/General Manager. Coach Mouradian will lead a live demo session both days of the tournament showcasing NLL box lacrosse techniques.
“After our successful launch of the Philly Indoor Lacrosse Championships last February, our goal for 2012 was to change the event from an indoor field lacrosse tournament into a true box lacrosse tournament,” said Andy Hayes, President of NXTsports. “Thanks to the very generous support of the Wings and the AILA, that goal has become a reality.
“The high school divisions will be played exclusively under AILA’s indoor rules as will a portion of the youth divisions. We are really looking forward to what promises to be a tremendous and unique event.”
The PILC launched in 2011 with 30 high school and youth teams battling for area indoor bragging rights. This year the PILC is on track to be a complete sell-out, with 24 high school-age teams competing in box lacrosse on Saturday, and 24 youth teams in action on Sunday.
Champions at the inaugural 2011 PILC were:
High School AA Champions – Low & Away L.C.
High School A Champions – Leading Edge L.C.
7th/8th Grade Champions – Episcopal Academy (Group A); Wet Bandits (Group B)
5th/6th Grade Champions – Leading Edge 2017
