Kennett senior Sophie duPhily, a four-sport student-athlete, has signed a National Letter of intent to play Division I llacrosse at the University of Michigan.

Sophie duPhily signs with Michigan during the early signing period. Back Row (L-R): Coach Dale Watkins, Coach Vince Cattano, Athletic Director Jeff Thomas Seated (L-R): Lindsay duPhily, Sophie, Jerry duPhily

DuPhily is one of 28 incoming freshmen representing 11 states who will comprise Team One for the University of Michigan, which will begin varsity competition in the NCAA’s American Lacrosse Conference in the spring of 2014. The other teams in the conference include defending national champion Northwestern, Penn State, Ohio State, Florida, Vanderbilt, and Johns Hopkins.

“[This] is monumental for Michigan women’s lacrosse,” said head coach Jennifer Ulehla. “This Michigan class of 2018 is the foundation of our program and will forever be the team that played an integral part in what will be a historical legacy of champions.”

DuPhily, who plays attack, will enter her senior season with 110 goals and 167 assists. A second-team All-Ches-Mont League selection last year, duPhily is also a US Lacrosse Academic All-American and was named to 2012 National Tournament Team (Philly). She is vice president of her senior class and a member of the National Honor Society.

DuPhily plays club lacrosse for the Phantastix Lacrosse Club. She is a four-year starter at guard for Kennett’s basketball team and has also played varsity soccer and field hockey.
