Mesa Fresh toppled the LIT Snipers, 6-3, and will play Canadian power Northern Lacrosse MondaY morning at 9:15 a.m. in one semifinal. Mesa took a 3-0 halftime lead on the strength of great defense and held on for the hard-fought win. Each team had five Division I committed players.

“It was best game, whistle to whistle, that Mesa Fresh 2015 has played all year,” said Mesa coach Brad Ament. “Every single player gave 110 percent.”

Meanwhile in the Elite Division quarterfinals, Episcopal Academy junior goalie Brian Zappala helped FCA topple Mesa Fresh 2014, 9-8, in overtime in the quarterfinals. FCA meets top-seeded Team Long Island at 10:30 a.m. Monday.

Zappala’s younger brother, EA sophomore Curtis, scored the game-winner as FCA downed Tampa Bay Fire, 8-6, in the quarterfinals of the Rising Stars Division. FCA meets surprising Team Total Michigan (11th seed) in the semis and could forge a title game matchup with Mesa Fresh.

In the U11 Division, Philadelphia Freedom fell to Team 91 Crush, 11-3 in the semis. Philadelphia Freedom won its first-round playoff game, 7-2, over Crossefire Orange.
