Penn Charter senior defenseman Tom Monzo has signed a National Letter of Intent to play Division I lacrosse at Stony Brook University.
Tom Monzo log:

High School: Penn Charter
Graduation Year: 2012
Position: Defenseman
College Choice: Stony Brook
Club Affiliation: Braveheart
Major lacrosse honors: Philly Showcase Gait Fab 40, 2010
What will you major in/study? Undecided
Why did you choose school? “I chose Stony Brook mainly for the coach (Jim Nagle, who recruited Monzo when he was the coach at Colgate). I like the size a lot better than a smaller school. When he (Nagle) switched to Stony Brook, I saw it as a chance to switch to a bigger school.”
What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “I’m really excited for lacrosse season. We have a really strong defense and the offense is going to be good, as usual.”
Other comments: “I’d like to thank coach (Pat) McDonough. I remember him talking to me in sixth grade, trying to me to play lacrosse. I want to thank my parents for going through all the time and all the money for the tournaments. I’d like to thank Joe Woodruff, who got me started in 8th grade. And Dan Carr, rest in peace; he gave me confidence and told me I could be a pretty good player. Also, thanks to Shane, who has really encouraged me. Last, Blair Bodek…He’s a good friend and teammate and he drove me to like half the tournaments.”
