From Press Release

Former Lehigh men’s lacrosse standouts Cameron and Roman Lao-Gosney have cracked the U.S. Men’s National Team roster for the eighth annual Champion® Challenge. The U.S. will play a pair of exhibitions, facing 2012 NCAA semifinalist Notre Dame on Saturday, Jan. 26 and then defending NCAA champion Loyola on Sunday.

The Lao-Gosneys are two of just 38 players selected to Team USA for this event. The players will be evaluated prior to tryouts for the 2014 U.S. Men’s National Team, which will be held Aug. 30-Sept. 2, 2013.

It will mark the second time the Lao-Gosneys participate in a Team USA event as they were selected for the Capital Lacrosse Classic which took place on Sunday, Oct. 7. Cameron was identified by Lacrosse Magazine as one of the “Ten Who Impressed” at the scrimmage.

Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese was a U.S. coach during last year’s 16-15 overtime win over Denver in the Champion Challenge. He’s enjoyed extensive experience with the U.S. National Team as both a player and coach. Cassese also helped lead the U.S. to a 12-7 win over Notre Dame in January, 2011.

Joining the Lao-Gosneys on the 38-player roster include Major League Lacrosse star Paul Rabil, a 2010 U.S. men’s national team member, in addition to many other professional players. The Lao-Gosney’s, who both play for the Hamilton Nationals of the MLL, are joined on the roster by two other Nationals players and are two of only 13 midfielders selected to participate.
