Haverford School sophomore attackman Brandon Shima has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Michigan.

Brandon Shima log:

Brandon Shima

High school: The Haverford School

Graduation year: 2015

Position: Attack

College choice: University of Michigan

Club affiliation: Duke’s LC

Major lacrosse honors, camps: 2012 Jake Reed Nike Blue Chip; Showtime Lacrosse All-Star; Crabfeast and Tri-State Tournament champions

What will you major in/study: Business

Why did you choose school: “Looking for a school, my family and I looked for a perfect combination of both academics and athletics. With one of the top undergraduate business programs, and a rapidly improving lacrosse team, Michigan was the best fit for me. During my visit there, I got the chance to see how much the University backed all of its sports programs and athletes. The academic support seemed second to none. I am very excited to play under Coach (John) Paul and the rest of his staff!”

Outlook for your high school team:
“The seniors we have lost will be greatly missed. There is no doubt that trying to replace the contributions they had made to the team will be very challenging. With the newly placed senior leadership and a lot of young talent, I believe Haverford will still be a very highly competitive team.”

Other comments: “Thank you to Haverford staff, Coach (John) Nostrant, Coach (Mark) Petrone, Coach (Travis) Loving, and Coach C(Avery) ook for helping with this process. Thank you to the Dukes LC Coaches, Coach Ebe Helm, and Coach Jason (Christmas) for all of their guidance and instruction. Thank you Coach Pettit for giving me my start in lacrosse. Lastly, I would like to thank my parents Lane and Lisa Shima. The time and dedication they have put into my lacrosse development has been tremendous, and I know that they are fully behind me in this decision.”

Other school considered: Georgetown, Navy, Penn, Princeton
