Haverford School senior midfielder-defenseman James Chakey has committed to play Division I lacrosse at Penn State University.

James Chakey log:

James Chakey

High School: The Haverford School

Graduation Year: 2012

Position: Midfield/Defense

College Choice: Penn State University

Club Affiliations: Old School Lacrosse & Team Philly

Showcases: Brine Shootout

Academic Honors: William G. Warden 2nd Memorial Prize and Un-sung Hero Recognition received twice from Haverford

What will you major in/study? “I am hoping to study Pre-Medicine and Biology.”

Why did you choose this school? “I was very impressed with the coaching staff that Penn State has. The academics that the University has to offer are excellent and the facilities are amazing. The thing I really loved about the school and campus was it made me feel comfortable because of the atmosphere it provided. I felt that every day I would wake up being happy with where I was.”

What is your high school team’s outlook for the rest of the season? “After last season with winning the National Championship, our team has been ignored by the public after losing so many players. We aren’t the same team as last year but we have a strong bond in the senior class and a high energy level. I believe that we are a top contender in any game and we push ourselves to get better. We plan to win the Inter-Ac once again by taking it one step at a time and not letting anyone get in our way.”

Other Sports – Football, Basketball and Winter Track while at Haverford
Iron Man Award winner
– 2 year starting Quarterback at Varsity level.
– Led Haverford for their first Outright Inter-Ac championship in 30 years.
– Named first team All Inter-Ac, first team All Main Line, Honorable Mention in All Delco
– Plan to play in the Hero Bowl on May 31st.
