Delbarton School (N.J.) junior LSM Peter Welch has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Duke University.
Peter Welch log:

High School: Delbarton School, Morristown NJ
Graduation Year: 2014
Position: LSM
College Choice: Duke
Club Affiliation: Tri-State
Major lacrosse honors: Under Armour All-American Underclassmen as a Sophomore, Jake Reed Nike Blue Chip Sophomore and Junior years, All-Star Team NE Storm Invitational
Academic Honors: Honor Roll student 9th and 10th grade
What will you major in/study? Undecided/History, Economics or English
Why did you choose Duke? “I chose Duke for a couple of reasons. Being at an ACC school is going to mean playing D1 lacrosse at its highest level. Duke has always been my dream school and when I went to visit, each time the coaches and players were very easy to talk to and be with. The school has great coaches, a great team and I will get a great education during my time there.”
What is your HS team’s outlook for next season? “I have really high hopes for my upcoming lacrosse season at Delbarton. We came so close to winning it all last year and losing the Tournament of Champions game has really motivated us. We have set our goal to make it back and win it this year.”
Other schools considered: Johns Hopkins, UNC, Maryland, Penn State
Additional Comments: “I am very grateful to my parents and my sister, Elaine, for always pushing me to do better both on and off the field. I would also like to thank my coaches at Delbarton and Tri-state for developing me into the player that I am. My teammates in high school and club lacrosse make it fun on top of all the hard work.”
