Maple Zone boys’ recruit: Conestoga junior attackman Mezey commits to Lafayette

Conestoga junior attackman Alex Mezey has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Lafayette College.

Major lacrosse honors: 2012 PIAA State Champions, 2012 District I Champions, 2012 Central League Champions, 2012 National Champions at Dick’s Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions with Mesa Fresh 2014

What will you major in/study:
Economics or Government and Law

Why did you choose Lafayette? “I feel that Lafayette is the perfect fit for me both academically and as a lacrosse player. I think Coach (Jim) Rogalski and his assistants, Coach (Matt) Musci and Coach (Ed) Williams, are committed to developing a great program, and I am very excited to be a part of it.”

Outlook for your high school team in 2013: “We have big shoes to fill, but we have a lot of talented players. I think we will be a very competitive team.”

Other comments: “I would like to thank my parents for their support and constant encouragement throughout my career. Also, I want to thank Coach (Brian) Samson and Coach (Brody) Bush for helping me become a better lacrosse player. Additionally, I would like to thank my Mesa Fresh 2014 Coaches, (Pat) Carney and especially (Peter) Scott who has coached me since youth lacrosse.”
