Boyertown rising senior attack-midfield Rachel Engler has committed to play Division I lacrosse at Rutgers University.

Rachel Engler log:

Rachel Engler

High School: Boyertown Area Senior High School

Graduation Year: 2013

Position: Attack/Midfield

College Choice: Rutgers University

Club Affiliation: Phantastix Lacrosse

Major lacrosse honors:
2010 Philly Showcase All Star Team,
2011 Pac-10 All Area First Team,
2011 Maximum Exposure Camp All Star Team,
2012 Pac-10 All Area First Team,
Lead Boyertown to 3 of the 9 consecutive Pac-10 Championships,
Played for Philly 2 in 2011 and Philly 1 in 2012 for the Women’s National Tournament,

What will you major-in/study? Undecided

Why did you choose Rutgers? “I chose Rutgers because it’s a great academic school and has an incredible lacrosse program. I will be looking forward to competing in one of the best conferences (Big East). I always wanted a larger school with a big football atmosphere and I know Rutgers has that.

“Being close to home was also a major factor in my choice of the University. Playing for Coach Laura Brand and Coach Lisa Ojea will also be a great honor, both being grads from local area High Schools (Radnor/Springfield).”

What is your outlook for next season? “We will be losing many keys players, but I know the younger girls will mature and hopefully help us to another Pac-10 Championship. We also hope to make it a little deeper into District/States play.”

Additional Comments: “I would like to thank my family, especially my Mom and Dad for getting me involved in lacrosse and for traveling to tournaments and visiting colleges up and down the east coast with me.

“I would like to thank my grandparents for being supportive fans at the majority of my games. As well as a big thank you to my Phantastix Coaches, Sue Fraizer, JoAnn Yusko, Chrissy Pops and Loraine Beers. Thanks to my Boyertown Coaches, Pam Wernersbach, Dulcie Rothemel and Brittany Troutman and both Phantastix and Boyertown teamates.”
