Central Bucks West junior midfielder Elena Romesburg has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at James Madison University.

Elena Romesburg log:

Elena Romesburg (#29)

High School: Central Bucks High School West

Graduation Year: 2014

Position: Midfield

College Choice: James Madison University

Club Affiliation: Ultimate Blue PA

Major Lacrosse Honors: SOL 3rd Team 2011, SOL 1st Team 2012, Philly Team 1 2012, High School Team Captain for 2013, Maximum Exposure All-Star, Varsity Starter

Academic Honors: National Honors Society, Distinguished Honor Roll

What will you major in/study? Undecided

Why did you choose JMU? “I absolutely loved the environment and the location of the campus. The girls on the team were great and the coaching staff is amazing. A highly competitive Division 1 program like JMU was what I was looking for as well as a strong business program, which is an interest of mine.

“The overall energy and vibe that I felt when I visited was totally unexpected. I had an epiphany, love-at-first-sight moment as soon as I stepped foot on campus. It felt like a family and no other schools lived up to my expectations after I saw JMU. I honestly was too excited when I went for my overnight visit and I went with my gut feeling when it was time to make my decision. I absolutely loved how it already felt like home.”

HS team’s outlook for next season? “We lost a lot of our seniors from last year who really anchored us and led us to our first playoff appearance in years. What we really need is some confidence and high expectations along with focus. This year we are extremely young, but very athletic with many new players that can hopefully step up and help make us a competitive team again.”

Additional Comments: “A big thanks to my Mom and Dad for always being my cheerleaders and for driving me all over the east coast for lacrosse. Another thank you goes out to my incredible teammates on both club and high school teams that have always pushed and supported me through everything.

“Thank you so much to my high school coach, Tara Schmucker, who has held me to such high expectations and was always there to help me with whatever I needed and it means a lot to me that she has been such an inspiration. A special thanks to Jen Duckenfield, and Anne Pillion from Ultimate Lacrosse for all the support and help that they gave me through the recruiting process and for dedicating so much time to help our team. Also, to Michelle DeJuliis for believing in me and supporting my goal to play at the next level and I owe her a huge thank you. They have all been huge role models to me and I won’t ever be able to thank them enough for their help.”

Other Schools Considered: Louisville, Towson, Hofstra
