Boyertown senior defender Rachel Perry has signed a National Letter of Intent o play Division II lacrosse at Chestnut Hill College.

Boyertown’s Rachel Perry, flanked by her father Larry and mother Jeannine, signs a national letter of intent to play Division II lacrosse at Chestnut Hill College Monday at the high school. Standing is Boyertown lacrosse coach Pam Wernersbach.

Rachel Perry log:

High School: Boyertown

Graduation Year: 2013

College Choice: Chestnut Hill

Club Affiliation: Dynamite

Major lacrosse honors:
2012 Mercury All-Area second team defense

Academic honors: Honor student

College Major: Biology/physical therapy

Why did you choose Chesntut Hill? “Chestnut Hill is close to home, 45 minutes away, and that will give my family the chance to see me play. The classes are small, and you get more attention. Chestnut Hill has a new coach (Chelsea Rosiek) and she is committed to building a strong program.”

Expectations for the upcoming HS season: “You really get good coaching and a good background at Boyertown. You don’t want to be on the team that ends the streak (9 straight PAC-10 titles and a 124 straight league wins), so there’s a lot of pressure, but Coach (Pam) Wernersbach tells us not to worry about that. We lost a lot of star players last year, but I think we have enough left to still be on top. We hope to compete in the PAC-10 championship again, do well in districts and make it to states.”

What are your strengths?: “I think I have pretty good communication skills, and my vision of the field is good. I like working with my teammates. I think I should have the chance to play as a freshman.”

Boyertown coach Pam Wernersbach: “Rachel has been a three-year starter for us and she’s played primarily on defense, but I think she’ll be used as a midfielder in college. She has a motor that doesn’t quit, and she’s always engaged and involved with what we’re doing. Rachel isn’t a vocal leader, but she leads by what she does on the field. We never had to worry about her doing the right thing. I think she’ll have an excellent chance of making an immediate impact at Chestnut Hill.”

Other comments: “I would like to thank my parents for always supporting me, my high school coach, Pam Wernersbach, my travel coaches Nikki Porrecca, Andi Saracco, and Maureen Burger. Also,. I want to thanks my Audrey Nettles for getting me started with lacrosse.” and are content sharing partners
