In-Game Blog: Haverford School at Episcopal Academy boys’ lacrosse; HS wins 9-8 in OT

Phillylacrosse.com editor Chris Goldberg is here at Episcopal Academy in Newtown Square, PA to report on the Inter-Ac League showdown between Haverford School (11-1, 3-0) and Episcopal Academy (11-1, 3-0).

We have nice weather and a big crowd to see a game featuring the No. 2 (HS) and No. 3 teams (EA) in the PA Media Rankings go for sole possession of first place in the Inter-Ac.

First period

EA – Tyler Odell (Sam Lawlor), 8:29 – Nice feed from behind cage, 1-0 EA
HS – Zach Rego (Will McNamara), after a turnover, 6:07, 1-1
HS – Henry Blynn (X), right-side blast by the lefty, 4:20, HS 2-1
EA – Curtis Zappala (X), 3:34, 2-2 game
EA – Tyler Chambers (Ian Strain), 2:38 – after great save by Henry Coote (3rd save)
HS – Zach Rego (X), a blast!, 2:11 – 3-3 game
HS – Henry Blynn (Will McNamara), 3.1 seconds left, on fast break, 4-3 HS

Saves – Jake Landman (HS0 2; Henry Coote (EA) 3

2nd period

EA – Trupert Ortlieb (Sam Lawlor), 6:39 – after another big save by Coote – 4-4 game
EA – Connor Haab (X) off rebound, 3:09 – EA up 5-4
HS – Will McNamara (Henry Blynn), 25.7 secs left – after HS killed a man-down, 1-minute unreleasable, game is 5-5, half coming, HS Time out with 4.9 secs left
