This is one of a series of exclusive interviews profiling members of the National Lacrosse League’s Philadelphia Wings.

After playing four seasons at Stony Brook University, Kevin Crowley was selected by the Wings with the first overall pick in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft this past summer.

He hasn’t disappointed.

Kevin Crowley

In his first two games with the Wings Crowley has tallied eight goals and six assists, including the game-winning goal in the team’s 10-9 overtime win versus Washington last Saturday.

Crowley scored 131 goals and added 101 assists in 60 career games for Stony Brook and finished his career among the best players ever to play for the school. He is the only player in Stony Brook history to record 100 or more goals and assists, and one of just 40 players in Division I history to accomplish the feat.

Additionally, Crowley is one of three players in America East history to be a four-time first team selection and in 2010 he earned the USILA Enners Award, given to nation’s most outstanding Division I player.

Q: What skills can outdoor lacrosse players better develop by participating in box lacrosse?

Crowley: “By playing box lacrosse both offensive and defensive players will develop their sticks skills. Offensive players will find they have to be more accurate shooters and defensive players will learn to get their hands on the offensive players instead of swinging for their sticks.”

Q: What advice would you give to college juniors and seniors to make themselves more attractive to college recruiters / coaches?

Crowley: “Try to get to as many events as possible to increase exposure and have game film ready to give to the coaches.”

Q: What was the best moment of your college lacrosse career?
Crowley: Playing in the 2009 Mann Cup in my hometown of New Westminster, BC.
