St. Joseph’s Prep graduate Pat Farrell, who was named the Landmark Conference Co-Rookie of the Year in 2012 as a starting defenseman at Division III Scranton, has transferred to first-year Division I program High Point University.

Farrell started in all 16 games last year at Scranton and finished second on the team with 20 caused turnovers while adding 30 groundballs. He was named to the Landmark Conference Second Team and helped the Royals reach the league tournament.

Farrell was an All-Eastern Pennsylvania Scholastic Athletic Association and High Honorable Mention All-Phillylacrosse.com selection his senior year at St. Joe’s Prep when he helped lead the Hawks to the state championship game. Farrell also was a First Team All-Catholic League choice.

Farrell joins fellow St. Joe’s Prep grad Bradley James (attackman) at High Point under coach Jon Torpey, the former Wing and member of the Philadelphia Barrage. James is a red-shirt freshman who played with Farrell on the 2011 Hawks’ state finalist.

“We are looking forward to having Pat in our program,” said Torpey. “Upon speaking with Pat’s coaches, meeting Pat, his family and seeing him in action, we felt great about him helping our program moving forward both on and off the field.”

High Point opens its program this year and will be in Philly in October to compete at the 6th annual Nick Colleluori Classic at Ridley High.
