Its East Coast Conference (ECC) rivals, finished No. 1 (Mercyhurst College), No. 5 (Dowling College), No. 6 (New York Institute of Technology), No. 7 (Seton Hill College), and No. 9 (C.W. Post University), respectively.

Maurer named ECC Goalkeeper of the Week
Junior goalkeeper Dakota Maurer (Lititz, PA) made ten saves and collected a ground ball while facing 34 shots in Chestnut Hill College’s 7-6 triple overtime win over #9 Mercy College on Saturday. For his effort, Maurer was recognized as the East Coast Conference’s (ECC) Goalkeeper of the Week.

Chestnut Hill College (1-0, 1-0) and Mercy College were knotted at every break on Saturday. Junior midfielder Mike Duddy (Toms River, NJ) finally broke the stalemate with an unassisted game-winner a little more than a minute into the third overtime period (69:07), 7-6. He was one of three Griffins to record at least two goals in the contest, leading the Griffins victorious effort with two goals and five ground balls.

Sophomore attack Mike Melnychenko (St. Cathariens, Ontario), junior attack Craig Owen (Glenolden, PA), and junior attack Shane Morlock (Whitby, Ontario) helped on the offensive end with multi-point performances.

The Griffins continue their early season ECC play on the road at #1 Merychurst College at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3.
