Boys’ youth lacrosse: Bucks Select 2017 Red wins championship at Jersey Shootout

The Bucks Select 2017 team won the 7th grade Championship at the Jersey Shootout in Metuchen, N.J on Sunday.

The team went 2-0-1 in pool play, with wins over Main Line Lacrosse (PA) and Three Village Lacrosse (NY) and a tie with the pesky Trashcan Lacrosse Team (PA). They faced Team 302 (DE) in the Championship game, winning 7-1. Bucks out scored its opponents, 21-7, over the weekend.

The defense was stifling all weekend, led by great goal tending by Asher Mithoefer and Matt McLaren and strong defensive play by Zach Kleban, Nick Werner, Matt Ryne, Matt Rahill and

Not pictured- Bryan Macintosh, Brandon Gervais and Alec Palmiotti.

Rhys Vaughn, while LSM’s Conor Larkin and Jake Keller dominated the ground balls.

The midfielders also played well, including Ian Vogt, Brandt Talomie, Cameron Vogel, Shane Early and Alec Palmiotti. At the face off X Gabe Smithline, Cole Johnson and Ryan Schmidt were nearly unbeatable. The Attack led by Justin Connors, Justin abbonizio, Alec Bracken, and Owen Tilger were unstoppable.
