Kyle Lauletta scored shortly after the overtime face-off to lift host Downingtown East to a scintillating 8-7 victory tonight over Henderson in a key Ches-Mont League boys’ lacrosse game.
The Cougars (9-3) remain undefeated in the league with a 6-0 mark, tied with Downingtown West in first place. The two powers square off on Thursday at East.
The Cougars gained possession to open the overtime frame after Kevin Clarke (20 of 21 face-offs) won yet another draw. After a timeout, Lauletta (three goals, one assist) started with the ball on the endline and after backing up the shot, he saw Henderson had no one on the crease for the slide and took his defender to the goal.
Aaron Murphy added two goals and an assist for East and Sam Weiss made 14 saves.
Jake Richard, Sebastian Kerslake and Phil Mitten each had two goals for the Warriors.
