Henry Blynn scored three goals and Jake Landman made 16 saves as visiting Haverford School defeated arch-rival Malvern Prep, 9-4, today in Inter-Ac league boys’ lacrosse.
“We knew their defense was going to be really good,” said Blynn. “We really wanted to get on them early today and control the ball.”

Haverford coach John Nostrant also alluded to his team’s ball control.
“If we can control the ball on offense and make teams have to defend us, we usually can score some goals,” said Nostrant. “Any Inter-Ac game is going to be a dogfight.”
Sam Rohr had two goals and an assist and Zach Rego added two goals for the Fords (11-1, 3-0), who visit Episcopal Academy Friday night for a first-place showdown. Episcopal is also going into the game 11-1, so the stakes are high.
“Face-offs are going to be critical Friday night. We are going to need to stop their transition game and make them play six on six.” said Nostrant.
Will McNamara and Timmy Brooks also score for the Fords.
Malvern Prep (3-6, 1-2) trailed just 6-4 after three periods until Haverford broke open the game.
P.J. Finley, Joe Dunn, Graeme Weaver and Tommy O’Connor all scored for the Friars, who got 13 saves from Matt Barrett.
“Haverford played better than us.” said Malvern Prep Coach Dave Metzbower. “Their goalie played great and they shot the ball well. We just have to move on to the next one.”
